The award, whose patron is Minister Professor Johanna Wanka, honours 25 young researchers from around the world each year. The winners come from various scientific disciplines and are recognised for their outstanding achievements in making our societies more sustainable. An essential part of the Green Talent Award is an invitation to the fully funded two-week Science Forum.
This year´s Science Forum consist of:
- A visit to leading German science and research facilities with unique insights from experts at these institutions; in 2016 the tour will take the winners to the Alfred Wegener Institute, Hamburg University of Technology, Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Siemens and Southern African Science Service Center for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management.
- individual appointments with German experts of the winner’s choice to discuss opportunities for research and cooperation
- networking opportunities at the largest Green Talents Alumni conference to date, to take place in Berlin on 27 October 2016
Furthermore the Award includes:
- a fully funded research stay of up to three months at an institution of the award-winner´s choice in 2017
- exclusive access to the Green Talents alumni network.
